What will help to make digital transformation a reality in the NHS?

I believe the enormous data streams within the NHS represent significant untapped potential. The key to digital transformation is to foster an entrepreneurial environment where data is more readily available and shared using common standards, while still protecting patient privacy.

I am a medical oncology registrar at the Royal Marsden Hospital. I trained at the University of Cambridge and Imperial College London and recently completed a PhD in cancer genomics at the UCL Cancer Institute. This involved formal training in data science and bioinformatics and collaboration with the Yale School of Medicine, where I spent a semester.

I am also a member of both the Royal Colleges of Physicians and Surgeons.
