Developing an electronic clinical noting system for Therapy Outpatients services
My Topol fellowship problem / project:
Currently, my organisation uses a paper-based clinical noting system. This system is inefficient and often means that documentation is of poor quality. The COVID-19 pandemic has further highlighted the immediate need for this problem to be addressed as the paper-based system made it difficult for staff to work from home.
I am aiming to implement an electronic clinical noting system for Therapy Outpatients services, with a longer-term plan to roll this out trust wide. This should not only improve the efficiency and quality of the current noting system but will also have additional benefits such as facilitating data collection and enabling future advances such as shared care records to be achieved.
About me
My background is as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist at St Helens & Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. In this role I have been involved in projects such as the implementation of a Virtual Fracture Clinic service. I am currently seconded into the position of Project Manager for the Cheshire & Merseyside AHP Faculty, specifically looking at expanding the number of AHP placements across the region. One of the methods to achieve this has been looking at remote or virtual placements.
I am passionate about quality improvement, working collaboratively and using digital initiatives to solve problems.
